Uganda Airlines Announces Direct Flight to London Gatwick

Uganda Airlines has today announced a new 4x weekly direct flight to London Gatwick effective 18th May 2025, connecting the UK and Uganda communities, cultures and economies.

Announcing the development, Uganda’s minister of works and transport Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala remarked that Uganda Airlines is coming to moderate the market as it has done on other routes. London, is the 17th destination which Uganda Airlines will fly, signifying the steady progress of Uganda’s transport system.

Gen. Wamala further noted that the route will connect Entebbe International Airport to London Gatwick. And it will be Uganda Airlines’ 3rd destination outside the African Continent after Dubai and Mumbai.

Mr. Adedayo Olwawuyi, Uganda Airline’s Chief Commercial Officer commenting on the announcement noted that the launch of a direct new route to London will shorten the journey from 16 hours to just 9 hours and that the route will enhance trade, education and tourism opportunities across the two nations.

In her address, Uganda Airline’s CEO noted that the London route follows a meticulous planning and preparations to secure the route. “It gives me great pleasure that we celebrate our 5th year with this amazing milestone. This route marks the end of our establishment phase, and sets us on a course to long term growth and expansion” said Ms. Jenifer Bamuturaki.

Research shows that destination traffic between Uganda and London stands at about 90,000 passengers.
